Student Assessment Framework
Framework Goals
Establish Consistent and Transparent Evaluation Standards: Create a framework aligned with the school’s core values, ensuring consistency in assessment practices across all subjects and grade levels.
Foster Continuous and Reflective Learning: Implement formative and summative assessments that help students actively monitor their progress, close learning gaps, and set goals for improvement, fostering a culture of self-assessment and reflection.
Support Data-Driven Instruction: Enable educators to utilize assessment data effectively to inform instruction, identify areas for student improvement, and adjust strategies to maximize learning outcomes.
Align with International and Ministry Standards: Develop a framework that supports both the NEASC accreditation standards and the requirements of the Ministry of Education, ensuring students receive a high-quality, internationally recognized education.
Framework Structure
Formative and Summative Assessments: Integrates ongoing formative assessments (such as quizzes, participation, and graded activities) with structured summative assessments (midterm and final exams) to provide a comprehensive picture of student progress.
English Language Assessment: Includes an assessment cycle with a focus on ongoing evaluation and reflection, integrating both formative tasks and summative exams to monitor language proficiency.
Portfolio and Reporting: Students maintain portfolios that include evidence of their progress over time. Seven reports are issued annually to reflect ongoing academic achievements and areas for growth.
Outcomes
Improved Academic Performance and Engagement: With structured assessments and clear feedback loops, students can track their progress effectively, leading to higher engagement and academic improvement.
Data-Driven Instruction and Personalization: Educators use assessment data to tailor instructional strategies, address specific student needs, and support differentiated learning.
Enhanced Student Accountability and Reflection: Through formative assessments and self-assessment practices, students develop skills in self-monitoring and goal setting, building lifelong learning habits.
Accreditation and Quality Assurance: The framework’s alignment with NEASC and Ministry standards strengthens the school’s commitment to educational excellence and ensures the program meets international and local accreditation criteria.
